(WFXR) – The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is adding to its website by offering an online payment plan for the customers.
This new option will help more than 150 clients per week avoid a trip to the DMV and help create additional appointment opportunities for those who need in-person service.
Drivers wishing to purchase a license plate or register a vehicle will need to certify that their vehicle is covered by the minimum insurance requirements or pay the uninsured motor vehicle fee.
If drivers do not have car insurance, their license will be suspended. Drivers will need to comply with these requirements: file a certificate of financial liability insurance, pay reinstatement fees, and pay non-compliance fees up front or enter into a payment plan to pay fees over time by monthly installments.
To avoid a suspension, drivers should ensure there is no interruption in vehicle insurance coverage during the registration period and deactivate or surrender license plates to the DMV before driving. cancel their insurance.
