The website of this ministry ranks first among online service providers to citizens

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) website was ranked first under the Central Ministries Portal in a nationwide assessment of e-governance service delivery.

The National Assessment of E-Governance Service Delivery was conducted by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in association with its knowledge partners NASSCOM and KPMG in 2021.

This is a periodic evaluation intended to improve the effectiveness of States/Union Territories and central government in delivering their online services to citizens.

After the assessment results which were released recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) website was ranked 1 under the Central Ministries Portal and the Police Digital Portal was placed at number 2.

In this exercise, service portals were assessed with their parent ministry/department’s portal. For the MHA, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) Digital Police portal, i.e. digitalpolice.gov.in/, was shortlisted for evaluation under the services portal. Accordingly, the main Ministry of Home Affairs website, i.e. mha.gov.in, was shortlisted as the parent ministry portal for the assessment.

The government portals that were evaluated were divided into two main categories: State/Union Territory/Central Department Portal and State Services/Union Territory/Central Department Portals.

The evaluation was based on four parameters: 1) accessibility 2) content availability 3) ease of use and information security and 4) privacy of central ministry portals.

Three additional parameters were also used for the ministry’s central services portals – End-Service Delivery, Integrated Service Delivery, and Status and Request Tracking.
