Santander announces a major change in online services in customer emails


Major bank Santander has announced that it is ending one of its popular cashback policies allowing customers to save up to 15% per transaction.

Retailer Deals is a free service that lets you earn up to 15% cash back at a variety of top retailers. But the bank today (September 23) announced to customers that the service was ending.

The service will end in November. An email to customers reads: “We are writing to inform you that we are closing the offers service for retailers that you have activated in online and mobile banking.

“This means that from November 17, 2022, you will no longer be able to access this service and your Retail Terms and Conditions will no longer apply.”

In its place, Santander said it was launching a new rewards service called Santander Boosts. It says: “Santander Boosts will be our new and improved rewards service.

“You will be able to sign up and use Santander Boosts for free if you have a debit or credit card with us and are 18 or older. Other terms and conditions apply and more information will be available soon on our site website.”

You can continue to use retailer offers the same way you do today until the service closes from November 17. If you have activated an offer before this date, you will be able to use it in accordance with its specific offer conditions.

Final Cash Back payments will be made on or shortly after the last business day of January 2023, in accordance with the Retailer Offers Terms of Service. If you wish, you can also opt out of retailer offers before they close.

“Please note that this change does not impact any products you have with us, such as your bank account or credit card,” the bank adds. “We are giving you at least 30 days’ notice before the closing in accordance with the terms and conditions of the retailer offers.
