PennDOT expands online services for people with disabilities

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Monday that customers who have a handicapped parking plate may now have the option to renew, receive a replacement or update their address on their permanently disabled people. According to PennDOT, the initiative reduces wait times for customers by eliminating the mail-in process and subsequent processing of paperwork.

Customers with temporary disabled parking plates will also be able to update their address and request replacement IDs through this online service.

To renew a plate online or for additional information on the services provided, including how to obtain a plate, please visit the Disability Information page on the Driver and Vehicle Services website.

Plate holders will continue to receive a renewal form in the mail approximately 60 days before they expire.

“This new online service is an added convenience for customers who require accessible parking,” said PennDOT Assistant Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services Kurt Myers. “The Commonwealth also benefits from cost savings associated with mailing products and notifying that a product has been renewed.”

Online services for drivers and vehicles are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and include renewal of driver’s license, photo ID and vehicle registration; driver history services; address changes; driver’s license and vehicle registration restoration letters; ability to pay for driver’s license or vehicle insurance restoration costs; duplicate driver’s license and photo ID; and scheduling driving tests. There are no additional charges for using the online services.
