Water utility officials said the referenced update was initiated by the software company that manages the website’s content in an effort to make it more user-friendly. Representatives explained that the new login methods will ultimately make it easier for customers to access their accounts, despite any initial inconvenience experienced by the change to the previous formatting.
The representative explained that the changes make it easier to log in because customers previously had to provide a long list of information, ranging from a PIN to a book and account number, before they could log into their accounts. The representative said the new system provides greater efficiency as users only need to provide an email address and password to log in.
The rep said that prior to the systems update, “we were still getting calls ‘from people’ who had forgotten their PINs.”
Replacing PIN numbers with email and password as login credentials could still confuse those who got used to the website’s previous design, water utility officials conceded. , but they reassured that they were encouraging anyone having difficulty understanding to call the water service office so that assistance can be provided.
